Under the framework of the project "Empowering Young Journalists in achieving the MDGs", the Syrian Ministry of Information and the United Nations Development Programme in cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark and the Danish Institute in Damascus will hold a workshop for a group of selected Syrian journalists entitled “Communicating Climate Change and Environmental Issues”.
The workshop, which will commence at the Danish Institute on Monday 15 December 2008 at 9:00AM, will be running for seven days.
The workshop aims to empower Syrian journalists to actively communicate the topics of climate change and environmental issues responding to the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goal No 7 (Ensuring Environmental Sustainability) as media professionals.
The journalists who work in the fields of visual, audio and print media, will be trained by national and international experts in climate change and how to fight global warming locally, as well as how to communicate their ideas with the use of modern media skills. The integrated training program aims at increasing the climate reporting before and after the UN Climate Change Conference planed during 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark (COP15).
