Description / Overview: The project aims to address the issue of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Syria through upgrading an existing facility operated by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MoSAL). The project has two linked outputs: 1) Upgrading the current protection center operated by MoSAL, into a high-quality national pilot centre for victims of GBV through capacity building and rehabilitation and 2) Supporting an awareness campaign by MoSAL in collaboration with other partners, such as the Ministry of Information, on the impact of GBV on the Syrian economy, society, families and national development, and the need, reasons and means to reduce gender-based violence, building on the rehabilitated centre as a positive example of addressing GBV. The project aims also to support the Syrian government in its efforts to activate and develop existing policy and legislation and harmonize it with international conventions. The project will work in full coordination with other UN agenies and with other governmental institutions working on the GBV concept to unify efforts and produce better results. Objectives:
