Description / Overview:
The project aims to provide Government decision makers, UN agencies and other partners with an updated database of indicators allowing the analysis of progress of Syria related to MDGs, as well as with a simple user friendly software to extract this information in the shape of tables, graphs and maps.

Objectives:
This joint UN MOU aims at establishing a DEVINFO (MDG Monitoring Database), entitled SyriaInfo that will be used for the regular updating and monitoring of MDG related data. This database will build on disaggregated data extracted from reliable sources, including the National population Census, National Surveys, Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), Household budget surveys as well as from Government routine statistics information systems.

Achievements / Current Status:

  • The primary data base was prepared and launched on 28 February 2008.
  • Seven Training programmes on the use of DevInfo are being prepared for the involved government officials from Ministries and the Central Bureau of statistics, to enable them to use, run and update the data base.
