Description / Overview:

This project aims at enhancing the institutional capacity of the parliament leading and corresponding to sustainable social, economic and human development priorities in Syria. The project will apply an integrative approach leveraging information technology, policy research, optimizing the traditional library, activating the e-library and developing the capacity of the secretariat staff, elected members and standing committees. The project will also foster dialogue and communication between the parliament and Syrian citizens, voters and local community groups through an improved Help Desk system

Objectives:

Strengthen the role of parliament, through support for enhancing its capacity and following an integrative approach and targeted activities. 
 

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Elected Members, standing committees and secretariat staff of the Syrian Parliament
  • The Syrian community at large


Achievements / Current Status:

  • Establishment of E-Library at the MPs residence
  • Finalizing the data base and archive system
  • Training courses on communication skills, presentation skills, positive thinking and stress management has been conducted to 75 MPs
  • Automation of the complaint office
  • Studies and researches have been provided to MPs
  • Several workshops and sessions conducted on Gender-sensitive budgeting for MP’s as well as support to law drafting skills
  • The launch of the e-Library with complete registry of laws since independence as well as other legal resources is complete
  • Training for MP’s and their support teams on the new automation system
