Description / Overview:
The project targets Iraqi refugees to develop the skills and to prepare for the future social reintegration into the Iraqi labour market upon decision to voluntary return. Preparatory support of Iraqi refugees potentially returning to Iraq is required to assist economic reintegration and to prepare for a sustainable return in their country of origin. While the vulnerabilities of women and children are evident, males aged 18-30 are also under particular strain.
When a voluntary decision will be made to return to Iraq, young males will be expected to reintegrate into the labour market and there is demand for skilled labour in certain sectors in Iraq, including construction, mechanics, and business. Skilled labour is also required in Information Technology, a field where female participation is easier to facilitate. Employment services are also being reconstituted in Iraq, making it possible to link refugees with vacancy databases. For an accurate reflection of Iraqi requirements, access to Iraqi curriculum, teachers, and employment services during and after the training in Syria will be necessary.
Once conditions will be conducive to sustainable return, economic and social reintegration needs to be supported through training combined with income support schemes enabling the participation of the most vulnerable groups, also reciprocating to the affected population of the refugee host community.

To support the Syrian government to provide professional skills and income support in preparation for return; to facilitate future socio-economic reintegration of Iraqis returning to Iraq and vulnerable refugee hosting communities

Total:4000 Iraqi refugees and vulnerable Syrians (hosting communities).
