Overview:

Partnership is not just an add-on; it is the way we do our business. To work through partnerships is to work from the outside—in. It is to connect, not delineate. It is to create opportunities, not define turf. It is to seek alignment with the external rather than to segment from within. Partnerships are integral to UNDP’s overall change strategy. Aligning around partnerships is a force for congruence.

UNDP Syria’s partners range from governments (both recipient and donor) to civil society, private sector, academia and the UN system.

Partnership with Government:

The Syrian government is UNDP’s primary partner for the implementation of its country programme. In addition to the State Planning Commission, UNDP’s coordinating partner in the country, UNDP’s partnerships extends through a wide range of governmental, legislative, judiciary and executive bodies which have all worked with UNDP to ensure the success and sustainability of its support.
For more information about UNDP’s partnership with government, please contact UNDP’s Operation’s manager Ms. Huda Khattab at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Partnership with the Private Sector:

Keeping in mind that the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) cannot be achieved without the private sector participation, UNDP Syria has extended its work to include international and national corporations in development efforts. The UN Global Compact was launched in Syria in 2008 to support private sector engagement in the socio-economic reform and development process of the country. Several private sector agencies have partnered with UNDP, within the context of materializing corporate social responsibility, to implement important local development initiatives.
For more information on private sector partnerships, please contact the Business Development Team Leader in UNDP Syria, Ms. Faten Tibi at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Partnership with International Donors:

UNDP in Syria partners with the donor community to support national socio-economic reform priorities. Donor countries to UNDP in the country include, among others, the governments of Belgium, Canada, Italy, France, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the European Commission.
For more information on UNDP’s resource mobilization efforts with international donors, please contact Operations Manager in UNDP Syria, Ms. Huda Khattab at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Partnership with UN Agencies:

UNDP in Syria partners with different UN Agencies both residing in the country or outside the country.

Partnership with Civil Society:

The relationship between UNDP and Syrian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) continues to expand to new areas of collaboration, pioneering new projects such as supporting the establishment of an NGO Platform in coordination with the Syria Trust for Development, as well as innovative project ideas connecting the private sector and CSOs through the Global Compact. This partnership builds on past partnerships, such as the "General Women's Union on the Local Elections" project and Strategic Communication and Media Relations Training for Syrian NGOs. UNDP has also supported the establishment of MAWRED, which is an NGO that works on women empowerment.
Handling this portfolio on behalf of UNDP Syria is the Governance Team Leader, Mr. Ghimar Deeb, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
